DIY Kit Product Information

1.  What is included in your DIY Kits?

Our single bracelet kits come with stretch elastic and silicone beads.  Our larger jewellery kits come with nylon cord, stretch elastic and silicone beads.

2.  What are your beads made of?

Our beads are made of 100% food grade silicone.  They are completely non-toxic and odourless.  They are also FDA approved, BPA-free, lead-free, PVC-free, mercury-free...  Basically, they are completely safe.  In fact, silicone is often used in baby teething products.

3.  Are the beads washable?

Silicone beads are 100% waterproof.  They can be washed with soap and water.

4.  Do you need to stretch the elastic before using it?

You should always pre-stretch the elastic before you start beading by pulling it apart while holding both ends for about 10 seconds.

5.  Is one knot enough when tying the elastic or cord?

One tight knot is fine when using the nylon cord.  We recommend tying 3 knots when using elastic.  Don't worry, the knot can be hidden inside the beads once it's tied.

6.  How much elastic should I leave when I tie my knots?

You should trim the ends of the elastic close to the knot to leave 2-3 mm.

7.  Do you have any tips to share?

We sure do!

While designing, use something with a ridge to keep your beads from rolling around.  An upside down plastic lid words well.

When beading, tape the end of your cord or elastic to the surface you're working on.  It's a great way to keep the beads from ending up on the floor.

Adding a drop of jewellery glue or clear nail polish to the ends of your elastic once it's knotted can make it even more secure.
